What is Custom-Made Clothing?

Hoi An is known for its excellent sewing techniques, and the custom-made suit and dress industry has flourished there.

Many visitors to Hoi An have custom-made suits and shirts crafted as souvenirs of their travels.

Each piece is made from high-quality fabrics tailored to the individual’s body, ensuring a beautiful silhouette, and elegant atmosphere. The author (expressing this personally) also owns a custom-made suit, crafted from 300USD for a jacket and pants set, and it is much loved.

About Be Li Tailor

As of the writing of this article, Be Li Tailor is a popular shop on Google Maps, with 1,457 posts and 5.0 review scores. The author had their suit made here.

In collaboration with Chika Fujimoto, who has roots in the kimono dressing business, and Life with Beach, a company supporting the Southeast Asian expansion of “made in Japan” products, this project was realized.

With renewed interest in Japan’s traditional crafts, the concept this time is to try making custom items like dresses and shirts using patterns and fabrics traditionally used for kimonos.

For those interested in the culture and traditional crafts of Asia, this project in Hoi An, a sister city with historical ties to Japan, is a must-see.

What kind of items can be made?

This may be a question for some. Ahead of this project, we introduce items that have already been created.

Women’s Dress

A dress made from a pink, floral-patterned kimono fabric. A fresh and cute piece.

A scarf has also been made for cooler situations.

Women’s Pants

Pants for women made from a light pink kimono fabric with subtle patterns (the right side). From a distance, they don’t obviously look like traditional kimono, making them suitable for official events as well.

Men’s Shirt

A men’s shirt made from lightweight kimono fabric. Combining Japanese design with modern shirt styling creates a unique fashion statement.

A bow tie can also be made. This could be described as a Modern KIMONO Style appearance.

Perfect Items for SNS Popularity

Clothing made from kimono fabric can be completed in as little as one day.

The combination of the World Heritage Site and Hoi An’s sister city relationship with Japan, along with the Japanese-style charm of kimono fabric, ensures that these fashion items will stand out on social media.
